The alkalinity in the water comes from the sodium carbonate and other minerals

is due to the high acidic body of the water. Flamingos can survive in this lake
due to its particularly tough skin and scales which prevent the legs from
burning down so that they can drink the water at the near-boiling point to
collect freshwater from geysers at the lake's edge. They use glands in their
head that removes the salt draining them out from their nasal cavity. You can
